Twilight vs. Harry Potter

So I am trying my hardest to read Twilight and I just don't get it.  I can't get myself to read it and be like those people who can't put it down.  But with the Harry Potter books, I was one of those people.  I stayed up late to read, read everywhere, made my husband read to me when we were moving and I was driving.  Now those are some great books.  Here's why I think Harry Potter is better than Twilight.

The main character.  Harry Potter is so much better than Bella whatever her last name is.  I connect with Harry and feel what he feels.  Where as with Bella, yeah don't care so much for her.  She's boring and loses my interest.  The only thing she has up on H.P. is her boyfriend.  I fell in love with him when he played Cedric Diggery in the movie.  With Harry's girlfriends - nothing to great.  

And the friends that they have.  Now I just finished book one one of Twilight, but it seems like Bella doesn't have any close friends - Just Edward.  But with HP - he's got some friends who like him for him not because he survived Lord Voldemort.  They do everything for him, including dropping out of school at the age of 17 to look for Voldemort.  Now those I consider friends.  Bella is a LOSER!!!

The place that they take place is better.  HP goes for the imagination.  Giffindorfs, Cantors, Giants, Goblins, different money, you name it they have it.  Twilight only has Vampires and warewolfs.  Come on Ms. Meyers, you can do better than that!  In HP, you get such a vivid picture of what she writes about.  You can actually see what she writes about.  In Twilight - yeah not so much.  Like I said, it kind of boring.  And if you're going to make stuff up, you might as well go the whole way.  Why stop with Vampires when there is so much other mythical creatures out there.

Now for the authors - Hands down, HP wins!!! She didn't stop writing a book because it was leaked on the Internet.  And she knows  how to write.  It's interesting - she knows how to capture an audience.  I don't see how people think Twilight is so good. The woman can't write!  She tries, but has come up short.  If things don't start getting interesting soon, I won't be able to go on.  

But for the record, I will keep trying the Twilight series.  And maybe my opinion will change, but I doubt that.   So when I finish I will revisit and give my full opinion!  Oh again, I apologize for grammar and spelling - I went to a public school!!!
